The history of this estate goes back to the 16th century. Records from 1693 refer to a property known as "Serançan" belonging to the Marquis of Cheverry.* In 1767, during the reign of Louis XV, the vineyard came into the possession of the Baron de Saint-Pierre, who gave his name to the château. His two daughters inherited the estate in 1832. In 1855, Saint-Pierre was classified as the first of the fourth great growths. After Madame de Luetkens sold her share of the château to Léon Sevaistre in 1892, Saint-Pierre was sold under two different labels: "Saint-Pierre-Sevaistre" and "Saint-Pierre-Bontemps-Dubarry". In 1922, both parts of the vineyard were acquired by Belgian négociants, with the exception of the winery buildings, which were bought by Henri Martin from the baron's last heir in 1981. Henri Martin purchased the vineyard in 1982, thereby reuniting an estate that had been split up for many years.
