Château La Dominique, GCC

Bordeaux > Saint Emilion - 86.00% Merlot; 12.00% Cabernet Franc; 2.00% Cabernet Sauvignon

Located on the western side of the Saint-Emilion, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation, the property takes its name from the Caribbean island where the owner at that time made his fortune. It features in the first editions of “Bordeaux and its Wines”. Its 23 hectares vineyards consist of 25% of deep gravel and 75% of gravely ancient sands on a clay sub-layer. The works in the vineyards and in the cellars are accomplished with the permanent concern to respect and to express the high class quality of this exceptional terroir. The harvest takes benefit of a double sorting. The grapes are then driven on a conveyor in the tanks. The room is composed of 22 stainless steel vats of small capacity – 10 to 100 hectoliters – to achieve a work totally per parcel. After 15 to 18 months of ageing, the final blend is agreed, and then the wine is fined with white eggs before bottling. Wines at Château La Dominique harmoniously combine a lavish fruit, a long and full-bodied structure, finishing on rich and fine tannins.
