Château Du Tertre, 5ieme GCC
Bordeaux > Margaux - 40.00% Cabernet Sauvignon; 40.00% Merlot; 20.00% Cabernet Franc
|
Château du Tertre and its 80 hectare estate stand on the crest of the Tertre hill, the highest point in the Margaux appellation. Dating from the 12th century, this thousand year old property has passed through many illustrious hands, including those of Thomas de Montaigne, Pierre Mitchell and Henri de Koenigswater. The wines of du Tertre became world famous in the 19th century, when the 1855 classification bestowed “Grand Cru Classé” status upon the estate. Since then, the 52 hectare vineyards had remained untouched, until 1997. Eric Albada Jelgersma, the present owner, invested heavily to resurrect the estate, combining technology with tradition. The investments he has made at the vineyard and cellars made the estate the famous great growth it is today.
