Château Canon La Gaffelière, GCC

Bordeaux > Saint Emilion - 55.00% Merlot; 40.00% Cabernet Franc; 5.00% Cabernet Sauvignon

Château Canon-la-Gaffelière (formerly La Gaffelière Boitard), has been recognized for centuries as one of the finest growths in Saint-Emilion. Count von Neipperg, scion of a family with eight centuries of winegrowing tradition, bought this estate in 1971. His son Stephan is currently in charge of managing the estate. A renaissance has since occurred at Canon-la-Gaffelière after several years of major efforts involving large-scale investments. All of this has been done with an in-depth understanding of the special nature of the soil. The wine is made in an ultra-modern vat room with wooden fermenting vats. Château Canon-la-Gaffelière is very deep in colour with excellent concentration, intense fruity flavours and ripe tannin. It is both full-bodied and elegant with fine ageing potential. Each new vintage reveals a different facet of this wine’s marvelously complex personality.
