|
Château Belgrave, located in Saint Laurent, on the edge of the Saint Julien appellation, is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. The lovely, 18th century hunting lodge is set in 60 hectares of vineyards in a single block. In 1979, Vins et Vignobles Dourthe took over the management of Château Belgrave, classified a fifth great growth in 1855 thanks to its high quality, deep gravel terroir. Their objective was to restore this estate to its former elegance and produce wines worthy of its reputation. The vineyard was completely renovated and replanted. Since the 2004 vintage, the wine has been made in a totally new winery, making the most of state-of-the-art technology and all the experience acquired by Vins et Vignobles Dourthe in the group’s other estates. All the conditions are fulfilled for the wine to express its terroir and the winemaker’s skill to the full.
